Today’s Tuesday with Tulsa is a Q&A session with Haley A., a sophomore communication and psychology major from Sand Springs, Okla.
What is your favorite thing about TU?
TU is my home away from home. My time at the University has not only allowed me to grow as an academic, but also as a leader, friend, and individual. I honestly cannot think of just one single thing that stands out as my favorite part of TU, but rather a multitude of daily moments that reaffirm my choice in being here. The gratification of studying so hard for a test, or meticulously perfecting a paper, cheering in the student section at sporting events, random trips with friends to get ice cream, or even just walking across our campus, are just a few of the simple things that add up to what has been an amazing experience. My time at TU has been unforgettable, and I know that the memories I’ve made will be long-lasting.
What is your favorite TU event or organization and why?
My favorite organization is Student Association (SA). SA is a student-led organization that plans most of the events on campus. SA facilitates an active collaboration between the student body and University Administrators. Students have an active voice on campus that is well received by the University. It is a great feeling to play an active role in the progress of our University and to know that you made a difference. Continue reading
Today’s Tuesday with Tulsa comes from Laci L., a freshman English, Education and Spanish major from Bartlesville, Okla.
When I first applied to The University of Tulsa, I had done my research: I would have small classes, there is a Greek community on campus, our football team is in the American Athletic Conference, etc., etc. I thought college would be pretty black and white. Go to class during the week and balance studying and having fun on the weekends. It was great coming here and realizing there is ALWAYS something to do on campus. As the say, college truly is what you make of it. But thankfully, TU provides opportunities to meet new people and get involved on campus and in the community. This is a list of things that have made me confident I made the right choice with my decision to attend The University of Tulsa:
- Watching the sun rise behind the McFarlin Library and the failed attempts of capturing the beauty on an iPhone camera.
– The Collins Fitness Center is open until 11pm, which is a great way to work off some stress after a long day of studying. Collins has a variety of workout machines and offers an awesome variety of exercise classes to help you fight off the Freshman 15. Continue reading
College students live for two main things: free t-shirts and free food. We are ALL about that F-R-E-E life. Thus, there is no better week in a college student’s life than Homecoming! Not only are there fun shirts and yummy food, but spirits across campus are also soaring with excitement. The University of Tulsa’s Student Association goes above and beyond to organize activities that the entire student body will enjoy, and this year was no exception.
The week began on Sunday night with a Kick-Off party in the Student Union. Groups of students formed a line that snaked around the entire upper floor as they waited for barbeque and the first round of t-shirts. It was nice to see friends that you don’t get to see on a regular basis as all of the different organizations on campus crowded together. Laughs rang through the hall and smiles shined on everyone’s faces in anticipation of all the festivities ahead. Continue reading
