Today’s Tuesday with Tulsa blog post comes to us from Hillary S., an energy management major from Highlands Ranch, Colo.
Today I want to tell you about the campus ministry that I have been involved with over the past 4 years – Baptist Collegiate Ministries. Time has really flown by, but here are some highlights of what our group does.
Every Monday from 11am-1pm, all of campus is invited for free lunch in the BCM building! It’s a great way to NOT have to cook on Mondays and to see your friends mid-day. It makes Mondays a little easier to deal with. In the building, we have pool, ping pong and foosball, all which get a lot of action each week. Thursday nights we have a large group meeting where there is a student-led band (even a cellist occasionally!) and some good words from other students and our leader, Brandon.
Right before school starts, there is a conference in New Mexico for BCMs all over the country. This was the first year I was able to end my internship early and actually attend the event! We had some great speakers and music, as well as lots of free time to explore the wilderness!
We also support sporting events together. We made Tulsa shirts that say: “#WeBelieve” on the front and “We Got Your Back!” on the back. We’ve been wearing them to football and basketball games all year.
Oklahoma-wide BCMs also hold events like volleyball tournaments in Oklahoma City and a weekend conference in Moore.
The BCM is a great place to get to know some awesome people (I’m a little biased!). I’ve had a great time getting to know everyone through lunch, games, and supporting each other.
